Visit Hinze Dam

A surprise visit to Hinze Dam

With interstate relatives up for a visit, the first place I wanted to take them was Springbrook’s Best of All Lookout, so we headed north along the M1 and took Exit 80 to Springbrook Road.

Unfortunately the Gold Coast City Council was conducting maintenance on the first section of Springbrook Road, so we were diverted and our first port of call was Hinze Dam.

Hinze Dam Gold Coast

Things to do these holidays

This holiday season you must take the time to visit Hinze Dam. What is so amazing is how quiet it is…hardly a sound and when you are gazing down into those blue waters remember this is our drinking water.

A word of caution if you want to walk along the Dam wall, do so early in the day. The sun is quite intense and the reflection off the water and Dam Wall can make it a hot walk, it’s approximately 4km round trip.

It can be a long journey if you get over heated..

The good news is that there is a cafe and the outlook over Waterside Park is very appealing and serene.
Not sure how to get to Hinze Dam check this page for more detail.

Where did I start? Started from Greenmount Carpark, then to McDonald Street took the pedestrian crossing… Continue Reading

You can browse through the outdoor exhibition virtually at any time and in most cases touch the artworks exhibited. To walk the Swell Festival… Continue Reading

Walking for pleasure is important It’s not just about keeping fit but more about being aware of your surroundings. Living on the Gold Coast makes walking a pleasure …it’s usually only a short drive or so to a spectacular location. However on a more serious note all the walks thus far can easily be transformed… Continue Reading

Elanora Wetlands Walking Track

A walk to be done again! Have you ever been travelling north along the Pacific Motorway and just before Exit 89 caught in the corner of your eye homes backing onto Tallebudgera Creek (near the water treatment plant) as you drove by. Well many times over the years this has happened to me. Never ever thought… Continue Reading
