Palm Beach Walks
Palm Beach is a flat suburb which is great news for those who enjoy a stroll and don’t want to work too hard. One of the best Gold Coast walks is walking from Creek to Creek Tallebudgera to Currumbin Creek, along the entire length of Palm Beach this will take you around an hour depending on your pace and where your accommodation is located. Just get on the beach and choose your direction, this is a lovely clean beach with awards from ‘Clean up Australia’ Palm Beach receiving the cleanest beach in Queensland twice.
Famous Jefferson Lane Palm Beach Walk
A walk along Jefferson Lane which starts at Lacey’s Lane south Palm Beach next to Royal Palm Resort and Princess Palm towers is a walk into Palm Beach’s past. Jefferson Lane features many of the original fibro beach shacks right on the ocean front, this walk will take you right up to 15th Avenue, where you can continue to walk along Jefferson Lane until you reach 17th Avenue and then it’s onto the beach until 23rd Avenue, at this point you can come off the beach and walk on a combination of grassy public areas and a tarred road running adjacent to the beach, which is called the Esplanade.
At the end of the Esplanade is Tallebudgera Surf Life Saving Club ( Life Saving Tower 16) continue along this pathway called Duneway till you reach the rock groyne under the looming shadow of Burleigh Headland National Park. From here you can cross the Tallebudgera Creek Bridge and access the bush walking tracks of Burleigh Headland National Park.
Palm Beach Parklands
Palm Beach Parklands is an extremely popular location featuring a large children’s playground area (the Pirate Ship) including the Dune Café for refreshments. The locality also is a favourite for families because of the large grassed area suitable for playing ball games with the children and along with the tranquil waters of Currumbin Estuary, for swimming which now is serviced at times by lifeguards.
Dog Friendly Gold Coast
Both north and south Palm Beach are dog friendly, featuring off leash beach access but take note of the signage and stay away from the flagged swimming areas or you will attract a penalty of $1,500.
These areas have become very popular over the last couple of years, so if your dog is a little shy you might want to introduce your pet earlier in the day when there are fewer dogs around. The Gold Coast City Council maps on dog exercise areas.
Overall most dogs seem to get on well and it’s really nice to walk along the designated areas and see how much fun they are all having. Check out the links below for more detail.
